Mary-Jo Padula

 Our dear Mary-Jo Padula, of Hardyston, NJ entered into eternal life on Monday, June 16, 2020 at the age of 64. Ms. Padula was born and raised in Belleville, NJ where she resided for several years prior to becoming a resident of Hardyston, NJ.

 Guests will be received at the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville, NJ on Friday, June 19^th between the afternoon and evening hours of 4:00 to 8:00 o’clock. Complimentary parking assistance will be available at the funeral home.

 Mary-Jo is predeceased by her parents, Joseph I. Padula, Sr. and Mary J. (nee Cozzarelli) Padula; and her brother Joseph I. Padula, Jr., Mary-Jo’s business partner. She is survived by her nephew Brandon Padula as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and her precious friends Fran and Lou Ferra.

 Mary-Jo, who held a Masters Degree in education from Jersey City State Unversity, opted to pursue a different path. She became an executive with the family owned and operated business, AFY Distributors of Fairfield, N.J.  She eventually took the helm of the company and operated it as a woman owned business for more than a decade.

 Mary-Jo was an avid aficionado of music and dance. She was well known for her sweet and delicate nature, but was equally well known for her ability to drive a tractor and chop wood. She was a complex person who could set a fabulous formal dinner table and carry on a conversation for hours. 

Her love for her dogs was renowned. She was predeceased by her angel dog, Lily and is survived by her beautiful dogs Anastasia and Delilah. Her dogs were so well cared for that they appeared in many publications, including a national ad campaign for Tiffany Jewelers and various movies.

 Ila M. Moore of Hope, N.J, formerly a long-time resident of Belleville, N.J. passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the age of 99. She was born in Detroit, MI, on October 3, 1920 to the late Irvin & Adelaide (nee Cooper) Mather.

Mrs. Moore was a bookkeeper for a warehouse in Kearny for 20 years prior to her retirement several years ago. She was also a long-time member of the Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church of Belleville.

Ila was predeceased by her husband, Leland C. Moore. Left to cherish her legacy is her precious family, a son Clarence Moore & his wife Marcia, daughters Mary Colburn & her husband Ken, and Cheryl Hough & her husband Al; grandchildren Jeannine Salisbury & her husband David, Erin Pomponio & her husband Dan, and Debbie Wahlers & her husband John Bernokeits, Thomas Colburn and William Colburn; and her very special great-grandchildren, Julia  Salisbury and Kyle Bernokeits. There is not a memorial service planned at this time.

Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean war. While in the Navy he learned many skills, specifically becoming a Stationary Engineer. After the war he continued and mastered that occupation in civilian life for over 30 years. He went on to become a Licensing Examiner for the State of New Jersey. 

 Vincent met the love of his life, Pearl Grado. They married in 1956 and moved to Bloomfield, NJ, in 1958. Subsequently Vincent and Pearl established their permanent residence in Belleville, NJ, for 32 years. Pearl passed away in 2012. He is survived by his sons, Vincent Mirra, Jr. and Joseph Mirra.

 Of many cherished memories over the years the most treasured was the family vacations in Wildwood, NJ. Vincent was an avid bowler as well as enjoying hunting and fishing. Other favorite past times were watching TV shows like MASH, and various crime shows. He also enjoyed playing computer games such as FreeCell on his laptop.

 He was a member of the Elks Club and the Disable American Veterans. Vincent will be remembered by many for his community participation, especially in local parades and fundraising events.

Eliezer Grego

 Our beloved father, Eliezer (Eddie) Grego, 70, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair NJ. 

 He leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Edwina Grego; his three daughters Betsy Grego, Noreen Anderson, Jeanette Grego; son-in-law TJ Anderson.  He was Guelo to eight grandchildren (Amanda, Alex, Vanessa, Samantha, Eli, Zac, Xavier, Carlysse) and two great- grandchildren (Ivana and Geno). He also leaves his niece/daughter Lillian Torres; best friend/compadre Freddy Torres; godson Jake Torres; goddaughter Sophia Santiago and many other beloved family members. 

 Eddie was born and raised in Isabella, Puerto Rico, the son of Maria D. Martinez. He was a resident of North Newark for more than 40 years. Eddie worked at the City of Newark Water and Sewer Department for 23 years.  He gained the respect of his coworkers for his hard work ethic, while making many lifelong friends.

 Eddie was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother and friend who never said, “No” to anyone. Where there was a will, Eddie always found a way. He was an honest man, always willing to give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.

 Eddie loved and lived for the happiness and success of his family. He was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, who never forgot a birthday or special occasion. He will definitely live in our hearts forever. And he will never be forgotten.

Ronald Carmen Cozzarelli

Ronald “Ronnie” Carmen Cozzarelli, 73, of Belleville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Saint Mary’s Hospital, Passaic, NJ.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 9^th at the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville, NJ, where Ronnie’s family shared fond memories and prayers. Entombment and committal prayers followed in Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Peter’s Church, Belleville at a date to be announced.

Ronald was born in Newark, NJ, lived most of his life in Belleville, and had become a Cedar Grove, NJ resident for the last four years at Canterbury Long Term Care.

Ronnie was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop No. 159, Nutley, NJ and had enjoyed participating in the many scouting activities offered; he also held memberships to the Mal Condon Association and the ARC. For many years Ronnie was the shinning star at his brother’s drug store, Rossmore Pharmacy, Belleville. Ron helped with the day-to-day running of the store, including home deliveries. Ron was well-liked by the customers and was the Ambassador of Good Will for the pharmacy. Ronnie would always ask, “How are you?” and never forgot a name. He was the best person anyone could ever meet.

Ronnie was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Cozzarelli; cherished brother of Raymond R. Cozzarelli and his wife Helen, and the late Vincent A. Cozzarelli; he also leaves Vincent’s wife, Georgette Cozzarelli; and was a dear uncle of Vincent Cozzarelli, Jr.

Libia M. Urgiles

 Libia M. Urgiles, 78, of Belleville, New Jersey, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Private visitation and graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.  Libia was born on May 11, 1941 in Biblian-Cañar Ecuador. She was the daughter of the late Luis Calderon and the late Maria Rosario Evangelina Muñoz. She and her beloved husband, Luis B. Urgiles married in 1960 while living in Ecuador. They immigrated to the United States and lived most of their life in Belleville NJ. They were married for 59 years. They had nine children, six daughters and three sons, twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling back to Ecuador to visit family, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was a devoted mother to Rosario Urgiles, Milton Urgiles, Nube Calle, Rolando Urgiles, Lupe Cuñas, Sandra Pesantez, late Luis Marcelo Urgiles, late Martha Eulalia Urgiles, and late Carmen Florencia Urgiles. She was a devoted mother in law to Leonel Calle, Piedad Flores, Ruth Faican, Milton Calle, Mercedes Castillo, Freddy Cuñas, and Byron Pesantez. She was also a devoted grandmother to Juan, Jessica, Fernanda, Jorge Luis, Jennifer, Daisy, Marcelo, Milton, Andrea, Cindy, Gabriela, Leslie, Jefferson, Libia Alexandra, Lisbeth, Rolando, Bryan, Rodney, Fernando, and Alex.

She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, who taught us to be humble, straightforward, and simple-hearted. She was also a great woman of faith, who taught us never to lose our faith even in the toughest moments of life. She will live in our hearts forever.

Luis M. Urgiles

Luis Marcelo “Mashi” Urgiles, 54, of Belleville, NJ, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 3, 2020. Private visitation and graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He was born on November 28, 1965 in Biblian, Ecuador to parents Libia Maria Urgiles and the late Luis Bolivar Urgiles. He moved to the United States at the age of 17, where he worked hard and raised a beautiful family for the following 37 years.

Marcelo, was affectionately known as “Mashi”, and was the well-respected owner of Ecuamex Paving, LLC in Belleville, NJ for 14 years, where he demonstrated the definition of hard work and determination. He was a humble and loving family man of faith who devoted himself to his wife, his three children and grandson. He spent his entire life demonstrating his love for his family and those he cared for. He also loved spending time with friends and relatives while playing volleyball, he enjoyed eating Ecuadorian food and drinking his favorite, espresso.

Whether it was with a kind gesture or a simple charismatic smile, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to know and love him for the sweet, kind and funny soul that he was.

Marcelo was predeceased by his father, Luis Bolivar Urgiles, and sisters, Carmen and Eulalia Urgiles. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Piedad Urgiles, his three children: Cecilia Jhenifer, 32, Daisy Thalia, 26, Marcelo Andres, 18, his grandchild: Jayden Rivera, 10, his mother: Libia Urgiles and his siblings: Rosario, Hernan, Nube, Patricio, Lupe and Sandra Urgiles.

He and his beloved wife, Libia Calderon married in 1960 while living in Ecuador. They immigrated to the United States and lived most of their life in Belleville, NJ. They were married for 59 years. Bianca Aureliano

Bianca (nee Capanna) Aureliano, 96, of Newark, formerly of Belleville passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 1, 2020, with her loving family at her side.

 Bianca was born in Amantea, Cosenza, Italy and immigrated to Venezuela in 1952. She married her love, Gregorio, in 1953 while residing in Venezuela. They immigrated to the United States, settling in New York City. They later lived in Long Island from 1964 to 1979 prior to returning to Italy in 1997. Bianca and Gregorio returned to the United States and established a permanent residence in Belleville, then Newark, for the rest of her lifetime.

 She took pride in her skill as a seamstress. Bianca worked diligently in the garment industry during her many years in New York City and Long Island. International traveling with her husband was precious. Included in the many countries they visited was Italy and Venezuela.

 Bianca’s loving husband passed away in 2011. Her sister, Angela Pellegrino also predeceased her.

 She was the devoted mother of Rosa Maria Munno and her late husband Antonio “Tony” Munno; cherished grandmother of Felicia, Natalie, Anthony and his wife Katy; treasured great-grandmother of Laura, Liana, and Luca; and dear sister of Rocco Cappana.

Carmela Cisero

Carmela “Lita” (nee Palmiere) Cisero, of Wildwood Crest, NJ, formerly of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the age of 92.

 Lita was born on June 29^th, 1927 in Newark, NJ, to the late Thomas and Mary (nee Luciano) Palmiere. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband Michael J. Cisero, and her son Jeffrey F. Cisero.

 She lived in Belleville most of her life before moving to her home in Wildwood Crest on a year-round basis in 2013.

 Lita’s most cherished memories will always be the time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren at the family summer home in Wildwood Crest.

She is survived by her loving children Michael Cisero & his wife Beth, Jennifer Simone & her husband Bernard (Sonny), and Teri Cisero & her companion Gerald  Ferraro. Her beloved grandchildren are Kaitlyn Aquino & her husband Rocco,  Michael Cisero, Christopher Simone & his wife Michelle, Michael Simone, Craig Cisero & his wife Sara Manzini, and Joseph Cisero & his fiancé Jessica Hickman.  Great-granddaughter Emery Aquino. She was also the sister of Nancy Capasso.

Frances Oldak

Frances Oldak, 82, of Whiting, NJ passed away peacefully on December 13, 2019.

Frances was born on May 2, 1937 in Bronx, NY to John and Betty (nee Albert) Smocovich. Prior to moving to Whiting in 2006 she and her beloved husband, Edward, had lived in Belleville for many years, where they raised their son and three daughters. Her husband, Edward L. Oldak passed away in February 2015 after 48 years of marriage. During their years together they enjoyed dinning out, trips to Atlantic City, and spending time with their family, especially with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frances was the devoted mother of Carol (John) McElroy, Teresa (Robert) DiCaterino, Edward (Kate) Oldak, and the late Lorraine Sheedy; loving grandmother to Robert, Johnilyn and Adam DiCaterino, Sean McElroy and Ellie Oldak; cherished great-grandmother to Ben, Eric, Noah and Louis; dear sister of the late Johnny and Frankie Smocovich and Betty Constantino.

 William K. Sypher

William K. Sypher, Jr. a lifelong resident of Belleville, NJ, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, in the Canterbury at Cedar Grove at the age of 72. 

He was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on June 12, 1947 to the late William K., Sr. and Jane (nee Kuhn) Sypher.                                                                                                

He was the proprietor of Espresso Anytime, LLC of Belleville, a distributor of restaurant quality expresso machines. Prior to that he was employed by Accurate Screw Machine Company, makers of electronic hardware, of Fairfield, NJ.

A descriptive of Bill’s personality would characterize him as a humorist, whose laughter was unforgettable. He was an insightful man who exercised caution when dealing with unfamiliar business situations and individuals. A self-directed person who was genuinely honest and possessed a loving heart especially for his immediate family.

Bill could easily make friends, but chose to take a lifetime to be a true friend. Bill leaves behind treasures that time can never take away and a heritage of loving memories that can never die.

Bill was the devoted husband of Linda Ann (nee Chamberlain) Sypher who recently predeceased him by five days, on October 25, 2019.

Bill is survived by his loving children William Sypher, III and his wife Gina, and Brian Sypher and his wife Jamie; and his cherished grandchildren Devin, Billy, Laura, and Katelynn. Bill is also survived by his treasured cousin Barbara Lupinacci and the late Lizzie Biuono. He was also fond of his precious nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.

Linda Ann Sypher

 Linda Ann Sypher, a lifelong resident of Belleville, New Jersey, entered into eternal life on Friday October 25^th, 2019, in Mountainside Hospital at the age of 71. She was born in Newark, N.J. on March 20^th, 1948 to the late Eugene and Bette (nee Melillo) Chamberlain.

She was a sales associate for Accurate Screw Machine Company, manufactures of electronic hardware, of Fairfield, N.J. for over 30 years prior to her retirement.

 Linda was an avid bowler and past president of the L.O.V.E. woman’s bowling league for several years. 

A characterization of Linda’s life would be summed up as a bold leader who was highly protective of her family.

 Linda is survived by her devoted husband William Sypher, Jr.; her loving children William Sypher, III & his wife Gina, and Brian Sypher & his wife Jamie; her cherished grandchildren Devin, Billy, Laura, and Katelynn; dear sister of Richard Chamberlain & his wife Judy, Gene Chamberlain, Gary Chamberlain & wife Diana, sister-in-law Angela Chamberlain and the late Orland Chamberlain. Linda was also fond of several precious nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

Carol Hartley Allie

Carol Hartley Allie, age 85, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, October 4, 2019. She was born July 4, 1934, in Belleville, New Jersey to Alonzo and Winifred Buddell Hartley.  Carol is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Delno "Del" Allie in 2000 and all five of her brothers. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and her two cherished dogs, Kayla and Kasey.

Carol earned her way through college and excelled in collegiate administration.  She retired in 1998 as the Associate Vice Chancellor of the University of Arkansas. Her commitment to higher education prompted her to create a legacy of scholarships to help others fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

A life so full and so well-lived is hard to encapsulate in a brief obituary.  Carol was truly a renaissance woman.  Her knowledge, interests and talents were expansive.  She loved learning, animals, nature, travel and music.  She was an artist and designer.  She created a number of stained-glass pieces including one in the chapel at Washington Regional Medical Center to help others find peace.  She cherished friendships and appreciated the blessings she had been given.  Carol's message to her many friends and family was to dry those tears and get busy with living their best lives.

Funeral Services will be held at the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville, N.J. on the morning of Tuesday, October 15^th at 10:00 o’clock. Reverend Ruth Boling will be officiating. Interment will follow in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Street, in the Delawanna section of Clifton, N.J.

Fernando l. Zambrana

Fernando L.  Zambrana, Jr. passed away on August 24, 2019 at the age of 61.

Angelina was born to Marietta (nee DelGuercio) and Pasquale Palmieri on August 3, 1926 in Newark, NJ. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Meloi who predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by a daughter Helen Baus Wegner and her husband Robert Wegner; sons Joseph C. Meloi and Peter C. Meloi and his wife Nereida Meloi; son-in-law James Baus Sr.; grandchildren Angelina, Frankie, James, Natalie and Joseph Jr.; great-grandchildren Kylie, Tiffany, and JC; nieces and nephews Eric, Debbie, Rodney, Rosemarie, and Charles; great-nieces Terry and Noelle; and sister Lynn. She is greeted in heaven by her niece and nephews Mary, Ronnie, and Alan and her sisters and brothers 

Mary, Terry, Rose, Carmine and Ralph.

Angelina loved to crochet and do beads for jewelry with her buddies Marie and Joanie for preemie babies and for children with cancer. No matter how heavy the cross Angelina carried it for all her family and friends. Helen gave her mom her wish to pass away peacefully at home with family.

Craig R. Decker

Craig R. Decker, 58, of Annville, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home.

Born July 26, 1960 in Belleville, New Jersey, he was a son of Irene M. (Dutzer) Decker of Palmyra and the late Robert E. Decker.  He was also preceded in death by a brother Donald B. Decker.

He attended the Encounter Church of Palmyra and was a chef for many years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania after attending culinary school.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of ten years Cheryl L. (Lingle) Decker; step sons Greg Lingle and Brad Lingle; brothers Jeffrey M., husband of Lori Decker of Clark, New Jersey and Karl A., husband of Dorothy Decker of Toms River, New Jersey; niece Michelle; and nephews Ryan and Bobby.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2018 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra, PA,  preceded by a viewing from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. 

At the conclusion of the service Craig will be transferred to the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville, NJ. Guests will be received on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 morning and afternoon from 11:00 to 1:00 o’clock.

Susan Lourdes Prieto

 Susan Lourdes (Somoza) Prieto, 61, of Belleville, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20^th, 2018 in Hackensack University Hospital with her loving family at her side.

 Susan was born February 8, 1957 in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines. The second daughter of Victorino and Rosalia Somoza, Susan is survived by her 5 siblings: Victorino Jr, Rosalina, Lucille, Chris, and Gerard. She is the loving wife of Anthony Prieto and will be greatly missed by her children Mark (Nelia) and Jaclyn (Shermanne). She is the beloved grandmother of Leonardo Mikhail, Amanda, and Shaley Rose and cherished auntie to 4 nieces, 13 nephews, 1 grand-niece and 8 grand-nephews. 

 Susan immigrated to the United States in the early 1990’s with the desire to expand her job opportunities and support her family back home, sacrificing many years away from her family. As a nurse who worked in various settings, Susan spent most of her career at the Ash Centre for Comprehensive Medicine in New York City and Fresenius Medical Centre in Jersey City, NJ where she made life-long friendships. 

 Susan loved to travel and visit her relatives. She enjoyed watching Korean soap operas, the Filipino Channel, shopping, and eating at her favorite restaurant Longhorn Steakhouse. Susan was an incredibly compassionate person who always put her loved ones ahead of her. 

 During her three-year battle with lung cancer, Susan showed an unexplainable strength. She accepted each and every treatment option with grace and determination.  She never turned down an opportunity to improve her quality of life. 

 Susan will be remembered for her love for her family, her attractive singing voice, her willingness to help others, her hard-working spirit, and her beautiful smile.

Peter Joseph Bridge, 82, of Belleville died peacefully in his home on Monday, August 27, 2018.

Peter was born in Nutley, NJ in 1935, attending school at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley before moving to Sangerfield, NY 

at the age of 12 with his family.

He proudly served his country as a translator in the United States Army shortly after the Korean Conflict.

After graduating from Utica College in 1960, Peter began his career as a journalist with the Endicott Bulletin and later the Oneonta Star in upstate New York. In October 1961, the Newark Evening News hired Peter as a writer, and he soon returned to New Jersey, eventually settling in Belleville in 1963.

In 1969, Peter coauthored The Mafia Talks, a compilation of FBI recordings of the DeCavalcante crime family.

Peter was “dubiously distinguished,” in his words, as the first news reporter jailed in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1972 decision denying a so-called “reporter’s privilege” to refrain to testify before grand juries. He served 21 days in Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ for refusal to comply with the court’s order to testify about a story he wrote concerning a bribery case involving the Newark Housing Authority. Despite answering more than 50 questions posed by the grand jury, he was jailed for refusing to answer five questions, including inquiries about his sources. He received commendations from numerous organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Ethical Union, for his defense of the freedom of the press.

Peter taught journalism at Rutgers–Newark and Ramapo College in the ‘80s and ‘90s and served as advisor for the schools’ student-run newspapers.

Peter was a constant source of humor, wisdom, history and guidance who left a lasting impression on those around him, especially his family. He will be greatly missed.

Peter was the beloved husband of Linda (nee Burgess) Bridge for 30 years. His first wife, Anne Bridge, predeceased him in 1978. He was the devoted father of Zachary and Ryan Bridge, Rebecca Kremen, Jennifer Quigley, and the late Mark Bridge and the loving grandfather of Helena and Ian Kremen and Abigail, Rachel and Sara Quigley.

Alice Lozaw

Alice (nee Oelke) Lozaw of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Friday, July 6^th 

at the age of 80.

 She was born in Newark and had lived in Parsippany prior to moving to Belleville over 45 years ago. Alice worked at various manufacturing plants in Belleville and Bloomfield prior to her retirement. Alice loved her family and enjoyed playing bingo.

 Alice was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Alice (nee Lutz) Oelke; a daughter Alice Bolitho; a brother Robert “Jr” Oelke; two sisters Dolores Burns and Corlene Nilon.

 She is survived by her three daughters Dorothy Lozaw, Barbara Ann Lozaw, and Laura Borgonsoli & her husband Nick; grandchildren Ronnie Smith Jr., Kayla Borgonsoli and Nico Borgonsoli; a brother Arnold Oelke; three sisters Barbara Wah, Linda Dybo, and Cheryl Barney.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, Charles resided in the city briefly, moving to Bronx, NY where he spent his childhood years, then moving to Newark where he graduated from East Side High School in 1945. He would later become a Belleville resident for the last 61 years.

 Chuck was a World War II veteran of the Naval Seabees, serving in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska.

Chuck became a proud Newark fireman in 1952, retiring after 39 years of service in 1991. Chuck was also well known for his window washing and handyman service, serving residents for 30 years in the local community.

 Chuck was a life member of VFW Post 493, Nutley, American Legion Post 299, Essex County Retired Police & Firemen's Assoc., and the NJ State Firemen's Assoc.

A descriptive of Chuck's personality would characterize him as an intelligent and balanced individual. A wonderfully kind hearted person, he was unforgettable. He was understanding and a true gentleman who would go out of his way to care for anyone in need. His precious family always came first and he prided himself on being an unwavering provider. Chuck had a terrific sense of humor and would greet people with his wonderful welcoming smile. He was a reassuring man and a man of goodness and a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Peter's R.C. Church.

Chuck was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Nancy (nee Roos); the loving and devoted father of Linda Siniscal and husband Ernest, Robert and his wife Barbara; cherished grandfather of Thomas and Sean and his wife Kimberly, and dear brother of Dorothy McCarthy.

Juanita Buniel Welenofsky

 Juanita Buniel Welenofsky (also known as, Jeannie, Mommy Jeannie or simply, Mana), 76, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018, at her residence in Belleville, NJ.

A celebration of her life and viewing will take place on the afternoon and evening of Friday, February 2^nd, from 4 to 8 o’clock at the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville. A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday morning, at 9 o'clock, February 3^rd, at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 155 William Street, Belleville, NJ. Jeannie was born and raised in Madrid, Surigao del Sur, Philippines to Uldarico and Ruperta Buniel. Being the eldest of six siblings, she was in charge of doing much of the house work while her parents would be out trying to provide for their children. After moving out of her family home and living for a brief time in Manila, Jeannie would eventually immigrate to the United States to live a better life. She married Fritz Welenofsky, a World War II veteran and loyal Vac-U-Max employee and lived in a cozy apartment located on Rutgers Court in Belleville, NJ.

 Jeannie was also a loyal employee of the Belleville KMart, where most of her time was spent running the men’s fitting room. The only thing she enjoyed more than her job, were the people who worked there. Jeannie always spoke about how caring her coworkers were. They never failed to greet her when she clocked in, and were always willing to lend her a hand.

 On her downtime, Jeannie spent a great amount of time with her family. She would visit often to spend time with her sister and her brother-in-law, Lourdes and Luisito, and her niece and nephew, Bethany and Louie. During her visits, she would bring food and talk about her week, watch daytime talk shows and bask in the love of her family.

Jeannie was strong when faced with adversity. Despite her life as a child in the Philippines to her transition into life in the United States, one thing that remained constant was her compassion and love for people. Her genuine kindness allowed her to be friendly with anyone she came in contact with. She was adored by everyone, from her family, to her closest friends and coworkers. All could agree she truly had a heart of gold.

Jeannie was the beloved wife of 38 years to Fritz Welenofsky. She is survived by her four siblings, Samson, Sixta, Ernesto, and Lourdes. She is also survived by the sister-in-law of Lourdes’ husband Luisito, and her niece and nephew, Bethany and Louie who she treated as her own children.

The Logronio family requests that no flowers be brought to the funeral mass or burial. The presence of Jeannie’s closest friends and family is more than enough.

 Born in Belleville, Frank was a lifelong resident of the township.

He was a proud US Army veteran who served during WWII.

Frank was the owner of F & T Automotive Machine, Inc. located in Belleville for 62 years, retiring in 2008. He conducted business responsibly and honestly. He had integrity and respect for his clients, many becoming longtime personal friends. Frank was renown in his field of expertise as a master automotive machinist and a specialist in mechanical restoration. He was an innovator and would take on difficult projects other firms would refuse. To his credit Frank restored the most distinguished automobiles and trucks ever to be produced. Such legendary marquee names as Rolls Royce, Packard, vintage Lincolns, Cadillacs, model T Fords, and vintage race cars of significant provenance.

Frank was a former member of the Belleville Zoning Board, the Belleville Athletic Advisory Council and a past President of the Belleville Optimist Club.

A description of Frank's personality would characterize him as a man of conviction, self-directed, never permitting life's circumstances to dictate his destiny. He was a strong and balanced individual, a perfectionist, known for his profound determination, he would not allow the corruption of his thoughts and ideals, he never wavered from pursuing the just path. Frank was an engaging conversationalist and a humorous man, albeit maintained a regimented style to his everyday practice as witnessed by a frequent and notable quote, he would state, "the shortest way is the longest way".

Frank's first priority was to his precious wife and his two treasured children, a wonderful provider he never shied away from work nor the responsibility of supporting his family. Frank instilled in his children many meaningful lessons and was a firm believer in education as a key to success. His desire was for his children never to work as hard as he did to achieve what he realized during his career. Frank found relaxation by working around his home and tending to his vegetable garden. Never was his joy so apparent as when he would spend time with his grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his most beloved wife Mary Simone Santasieri; his loving children Barbara Freda and Anthony Santasieri; his precious grandchildren Christina, Anthony and Jordan; his dear sister Jenny McAlister, and his many cherished nieces and nephews.

 Born in Newark, NJ, Rose resided in the city, before moving to Hillside, NJ,, and subsequently established her permanent residence of 64 years in Union, NJ.

Rose achieved in her lifetime the elevated status of ‘Domestic Goddess’, albeit of  greater significance was her outstanding efforts  as a nurturing mother – the world revolved around her children;  family first was a standard in the Gorlin home. Rose instructed her children to be respectful, supportive of one another, and to be well rounded individuals prepared to confront and deal with the situations of everyday life.

A descriptive of Rose’s personality would characterize her as an independent thinker, balanced, generous and creative. A person who paid fastidious attention to details, which would typically go unnoticed by others. She was a woman of conviction, who spoke her mind and unabashedly put forward her opinions without reservation. Contrarily, Rose projected a beautiful presence and was a physically stunning lady, dressing in elegant fashions, her face framed by a perfect coif, her lips  colored in red or orange, designer eyeglass frames of every color specifically selected to coordinate with  her extensive and elegant wardrobe. Rose was truly an eyeglass fashionista, step aside Elton John! She was an advocate of quality above quantity. Noted for a good sense of humor and a quick wit, she also could become a formidable foe or a loving and caring friend and confidante. Rose was cautious in her dealings with people that she was unfamiliar with, especially concerning ordinary business.

Rose was genuine, a people pleaser and endeavored to make others feel special, sending thoughtful greeting cards or making those ‘just keeping in touch’ telephone calls . . . everyone liked Rose.

 She traveled the world with her late sister, Ida and when not at some far flung location, Rose enjoyed the Monmouth Race Track or a vacation at the seashore, 25 summers, on the oceanfront in Long Branch, NJ.It should be noted that Rose surpassed all previous zeniths, when she turned the task of making dinner reservations into an exquisite art form; no one could trump her style.

 She was passionate about the music of Il Divo and developed a major crush on Sebastian, why not? Rose purchased thoughtful and unique gifts specific to the recipients’ personality and the occasion.  Should you have been fortunate enough to receive a kiss from Rose you displayed her love on your cheek for everyone to see.

 So really. . . who could fault Rose? She even loved cats, most recently Cami and the three cats prior: Junior, Mini and Midget which upon their demise were interred at the Blairstown Pet Cemetery.

 Although, Rose was not overly religious, she donated a torah in her late father’s name upon her son Mitch’s Bar Mitzvah, thereby keeping a promise to her late father who never had the opportunity to see his grandson.

 Rose was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Joseph Gorlin; the cherished mother of Jaye and the late Mitchell; the dear grandmother of Anthony and his wife Nydia, and Carmela and her husband Frank; the adored aunt of several nieces and nephews; a true friend of Red Sherman and his precious late wife Janice, Rose’s childhood companion, and the pet-grandmother of Cami, her elusive feline companion.

 Tito Francisco Zambrano, 79, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017,

 Frank was a lifelong resident of Belleville. He  was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and was the family historian and knew many details of a Province of Salerno called Castelnuovo DiConza, where his family emigrated from.  He was the youngest of 4 siblings with his closest brother passing away  at 8 months. Growing up, he worked in his dad’s barber shop before graduating from Belleville High School in 1941.  He never let the circumstances of his life dictate his future and started his college career at Newark College of Engineering (NCE). After completing 3 semesters, he joined the US Navy where he served as an Electronics Technician.  After an honorable discharge, Frank became a proud veteran of the US Navy, returning to NCE where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1949.  He followed that with a Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1951. 

For 38 years, Frank commuted over an hour every day to Bound Brook, NJ, where he worked for Union Carbide Corporation, a worldwide leader in chemicals and plastics.  For Frank, the commute was a small price to pay to maintain roots in his beloved hometown of Belleville.  Frank became a senior leader within the Union Carbide Research and Development Organization as well as an industry recognized professional as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE) and was presented the Alumni Achievement Award by New Jersey Institute of Technology. He had many accomplishments before he decided to reinvent himself and enroll in Seton Hall Law School at the age of 50. Frank graduated from law school in 1982 and transitioned to the Intellectual property team at Union Carbide.  He finished his career at Union Carbide as a lawyer and US patent attorney.  After leaving Union Carbide in 1990, Frank continued to work in private practice as a lawyer and US patent attorney up to May of this year, never retiring. He was easily recognized by his perfectly pressed pants, jacket and double Windsor knot tie.

During Frank’s pursuit of his engineering degrees, he dated the love of his life, Angela Carissimo also a Belleville native. Their courtship was punctuated by Frank calling on Angela, impeccably dressed and wearing his trademark bow tie.  This was when and how he gained his nickname “Jazz Bow.”  Frank characterized the greatest accomplishment of his life occurring the day,  he married Angela.  Married for 66 years, they had six children.  Frank and wife Karen (nee Caputo), Robert and wife Susan (nee Maniscalco), Carol and husband John Franklin, John Cozzarelli and significant other Antionette Sosnowski, Joe and wife Paula (nee Pirozzi), Linda and husband Robert Dalla Riva.  Along with his children, Frank had the greatest pride in all 15 of his grandchildren, Frank P. and Malarie, Stephen, Robert Jr. and Jenna, Rebecca, John Paul, Alexa, Christopher, Nick, Danielle, John Anthony, Natalie, Victoria, Tommy, Marc and Emily. Pop also had a special place for extended family, friends and their children. It was his pleasure to introduce each of the people special to him followed by their educational accomplishments and achievements.

Frank is predeceased by his mother Anna (nee Di Ruggiero), his father Francesco (Frank); his sister Antoinette, his brother James, his sister Mary and his brother Frank Jr.

He was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner of Saint Peter's Church in Belleville.

His dedication to his family was best demonstrated by his affectionate last sentiments, “I Love you…hug me”.

Peggy had a pleasing demeanor, yet conversely she could engage her sharp and sometimes mischievous wit. A wonderfully genuine person with a precious heart, Peggy had the capacity to be a formidable adversary when necessary. She was known to enjoy socializing, listening to Irish music, dancing and was an entertaining conversationalist.

Born in Newark, NJ, Richie resided in the city for 25 years, moving to Scotch Plains, NJ and subsequently resided in Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Bonita Springs, for the last 15 years.

Richie was a proud US Army veteran, having achieved the rank of sergeant while serving in Viet Nam fighting in the Mekong Delta.

He retired as a decorated captain of the Newark Police Department in 2001 after 30 years of dedicated service.

A description of Richie's personality would characterize him as an affable man that had a humorous nature; being in his presence was a truly memorable experience. A respected individual, passionate in his focus regarding family and friends, he was known as the go to guy. Richie took pride in his appearance and enjoyed living the good-life. His recreational activities included hunting, boating and additionally was acknowledged as an expert skeet shooter.

Josephine Onofrietti

Josephine Onofrietti, 99, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her home in Raleigh, NC. She was born February 8, 1918 in Newark, NJ to Joseph DeRobertis and Maria Archangela (Angelina) Rotunda DeRobertis the 6^th of 11 children. She was a strong and independent woman who loved her family more than life. Josephine spent most of her adult life living and working in NJ where she was a seamstress in the clothing manufacturing industry. She loved to dance, garden, bake and crochet hats for new born babies at the hospital and made an abundance of shawls/lap blankets for the infirmed and elderly. She spent many of her retirement years visiting the sick and bringing food and clothing to those in need. In her last years at the Meadows Community, Josephine enjoyed passing the time with her friends especially her best friend Irene. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Frances Paynter and Phyllis Onofrietti; her brother Renaldo (Lenny) and his wife Frances of Newburgh, NY. Her grandchildren Jacqueline, Pamela, Steven, Tracy Ann, Paul Joseph, Maria Felice, and seven great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Newark. She was employed by Goodkind and O'Dey in Clifton, NJ as a bookkeeper for more than 40 years, retiring in 1992.

A description of Evelyn's personality would characterize her as a balanced and genuine person, pure of heart and generous in deed and prayer, she had a notable smile that was truly glorious and she was never known to have spoken an ill word of anyone. Evelyn was unforgettable and leaves an indelible legacy of love and kindness that time can never take away.

A devout Catholic and a member of St. Peter's Church and the Rosary Confraternity, she was also a member of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club.

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Rosa emigrated to the United States in 1975, settling in Belleville where she remained until 1997 and subsequently moved to Newark, New Jersey residing in the city for the last 20 years.

She had a determination that did not permit challenges to overcome her vision and a tenacity coupled with an inexhaustible strength to achieve her goals. Rosa was an entrepreneur, independent and savvy selling what the marketplace desired, from a variety of general merchandise to delicious empanadas.

Rosa was a sincere individual, quite friendly, having a delightful sense of humor, albeit disciplined and strict. She was a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for the family she so deeply loved.

Rosa was unwavering in her faith and devotion to God, this was a fundamental tenent that defined her purpose. A humble person and yet a magnificent person, her gifts will never be forgotten; she leaves an enduring legacy of love, good deeds, devotion, the understanding of pure faith, and so much more than these mere words and convey.

Born in Union City, NJ, Frank resided in Weehawken, NJ, Norfolk, VA, and subsequently a resident of North Arlington, NJ for the greater part of his life. A recent move, two years ago, established his last residence in New Braunfels.

Frank was a proud US Navy veteran, stationed in Norfolk, during the Korean War, serving as a communications specialist.

Frank was the owner of BSC Communications, Belleville for 50 years, retiring in 2014. He conducted business responsibly with integrity and respect for his many clients. He remained current with emerging technologies, and innovative field applications.

Frank began his political career as a member of the North Arlington Planning Board, distinguishing himself with an unwavering commitment to the Board and its purpose. He would later be elected to three consecutive terms as a North Arlington Councilman. Again, proving to be an effective leader, governing with a situational style that was guided by and fostered the collective good of the community. He was a former member and officer of the Belleville Lions Club.

A descriptive of Frank's personality would characterize him as a humanist, intelligent and balanced, a person known to assist others during their challenging times, a man of conviction he would not capitulate, nor permit the corruption of just ideals. He was a student of life, he instilled in his children many meaningful lessons. He had a dynamic work ethic, and would not permit the hours of the day to be wasted. Frank understood the responsibility of friendship and the confidentiality of privileged conversation, and then of course there was his wonderful smile and his memorable laugh.

Knowing Frank was to truly understand that he was more than these mere words could ever describe and the memories he leaves behind time can never take away.

Frank is survived by his first priority, his precious children Michael and his wife Lynn, Patricia Picone and her husband Andy and Robert and his wife Eileen; his treasured grandchildren Greg, Lauren, Katie, Matthew and Andrew; his cherished siblings Dolores Givin and John Picone, and a lifetime of dear friends.

 He was employed by the Township of Belleville, Department of Public Works for 22 years.

He was a proud WWII Navy veteran.

He was a carpenter for the Essex County Public Works Department, Cedar Grove, NJ for 40 years, retiring in 1993.

A descriptive of Fred's personality would characterize him as an individual whose first priority was to his wife and children. He was a caring and loving man who valued friendship. He was recognized for his well dressed appearance and his congenial ways. Fred was a terrific cook preparing daily meals for his family. He enjoyed sports and Monmouth Park was a favorite destination. Additionally, he had the ability to provide exacting and detailed directions to many locations.

He was a member of several civic and political organizations and a distinguished longtime member of the Belleville Zoning Board.

Fred, will be remembered as a great man who deserves every accolade in acknowledgement of his lifetime achievements and our knowing that he was certainly more than these mere words can convey.

Candida L. Valiente

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and avid community volunteer, 76

Candida Luisa Valiente, née Macaya, passed away at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ, on Saturday morning, July 16, 2016.

Born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, she emigrated with her family to Brooklyn, NY, in October 1945, after her father completed his service in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. She graduated from Eastern District High School and studied biology and chemistry at Brooklyn College, where she met her husband, John Valiente. In July of 1967 they moved permanently to Belleville, where they raised their four children.

Candida was a true renaissance woman, with a broad range of interests and abilities. She was a lover of the arts; she studied ballet and some piano in her youth, and took up the recorder when her children were young. In the last five years of her life, she was a member of the Montclair Early Music Group, an amateur recorder consort in nearby Montclair. She attended the opera and the ballet frequently, and cultivated a love of the arts in her children and grandchildren. Candida was also athletic; she excelled at swimming and was on the Brooklyn College women's fencing team. She loved sports, and was a committed parent volunteer for both recreational and school sports in Belleville.

Candida had a strong sense of civic duty. During her children's school-age years, she served on the PTA for every school they attended, and attained the position of PTA President at most of those schools. She also volunteered for Cub Shouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and was always ready to answer the call whenever help was needed. In her later years, she volunteered at Belleville Public Library, teaching English as a Second Language to new immigrants.

Candida was extremely well-read, with tastes ranging from Chaucer to Austen, and from Castaneda to Asimov. Above all, she adored children. She was tirelessly devoted to her own four children, and was also a second mom to many neighborhood children, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends' children. She could calm any cranky baby, and her five granddaughters were her greatest joy for the last fourteen years.

Candida was the cherished sister of Giovanna Moretti, Elisa Ferracane, and Santos Macaya, Jr.; beloved wife of the late John M. Valiente; the devoted mother of John Thomas Valiente, Peter Valiente, Jessica Valiente, and Geoffrey Valiente; doting grandmother of Meghan Ford-Titus, Maggie Faulkner, Lisa Faulkner, Daphne Faulkner, and Isabella Valiente; treasured aunt of many nephews and nieces, and adored by a lifetime of friends and relatives.

Diego was a rare individual; he was an extreme sports enthusiast, living for the thrill of pushing his abilities to the edge: skydiving, skiing from the highest mountaintop, riding fast and hard on a motorcycle, surfing the big waves, tricking out on a Jet Ski, or scuba diving deep beneath the surface of the water. He was confident and daring - ready for the next adrenaline rush. Conversely, he was an unobtrusive gentleman of vast dimension; he genuinely was a warm and welcoming personality that could draw you in to his uniqueness. Diego was a smart, well-adjusted person who possessed a demure way in his conduct, incapable of speaking ill of anyone, he never raised his voice in anger refusing to argue. He appreciated the beauty of the present and realized how important it was to live in the goodness of the moment, taking pleasure in socializing, he was engaging and entertaining having a terrific sense of humor. A friend to all, he lived the good life. Diego was generous in thought and deed, a person who was patient and respectful, his manner gentle yet firm in his convictions.

Knowing Diego was to truly understand that he was more than these mere words could ever describe, and the memories he leaves behind time can never take away.

Diego, fell in love with and married Michele, the girl of his dreams. They were supremely supportive of one another throughout the good times and the challenging times - in health and in illness, they will forever be one.

As a couple they were a glamorous vision and projected a special sparkle, yet they were very balanced and centered. . . after all, . . . they were Diego and Michele.

Panchin was a sheet metal fabricator at Sheet Metal Products, Inc.,

Newark, for 15 years, retiring in 2003.

A description of Panchin's personality would characterize him as a social individual who appreciated living the good life and was known for his well-dressed style. Patricia was born in Dundee, Scotland on April 1, 1951, and was the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Carey) Friel, as a child she and her family immigrated to the United States.

She was a graduate of Bogota High School and the Kathryn Gibbs School. Patricia's interests included gardening, cooking, birding and volunteering on behalf of charitable causes.

Patricia was employed for many years by the Sun Chemical Corporation, Carlstadt, NJ, as a specialist in the Regulatory Affairs Department.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Moira and her brother John. She is survived by a brother in law Joseph Kneller; sister in law Laury Dickinson; step mother Margaret Keppler; step sister Kathleen Von Sternberg; step brothers Steven and Charles Keppler; several nephews and a niece, and numerous lifelong friends.

Born in Newark, N.J., Michael resided in Belleville for most of his life and in 2013 relocated to his home in Wildwood Crest, N.J.

Mike was a proud US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

In 1952, after returning from military service, Mike became the owner/operator of Cisero Furniture Company on Broadway in Newark and subsequently opened a furniture showroom on Bloomfield Avenue in Bloomfield, N.J., before retiring in 1990.

Mike enjoyed playing cards, watching broadcast golf tournaments and boxing matches.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Michael and Jennie Cisero; his cherished son, Jeffery F. Cisero; and his dear siblings Robert Cisero and Lucille Fernandez.

Michael was the beloved husband of 61 years, to Lita Cisero (nee Palmiere); the devoted father and grandfather of Michael Cisero and his wife Beth, and their children Kaitlyn and Michael, Jennifer Simone and her husband Bernie (Sonny) and their children Christopher and Michael, and Teri Cisero and her children Craig and Joseph.

 June worked for the Port Authority PATH system for most of her life and performed her duties exceptionally. She cared for millions of commuters lives as a Trainmaster on a daily basis.

She had a love for life and a yearning for adventure. She took a glider plane ride in Hawaii, zip lined in Las Vegas Nevada, hiked the Grand Canyon and rode a motorcycle in Nassau and all over N.J. and Penn.

June sought adventure at every turn and encouraged her children to do the same. She demonstrated her love to her family through her cooking. Holiday meals and the annual “Japanese New Year” was not just a meal, she made it a culinary fiesta. From the main dishes to all of the cakes, pies, cookies and treats the friends and families always looked forward to whatever she prepared.

The most important message she imparted to us is to keep the family together, something that we practice every day.

Linda was the daughter of the late Genaro and Beatrice Mercado, and former wife of the late Hugh Banister.

Linda was the devoted and loving mother of Stacey Banister, Vittorio Banister and the late Marcellina Banister; cherished grandmother of Diamond, Marcellina Milagros, Carlos, Dykorra, Anthony, Khaleeb and Aaron; also a host of other relatives and friends, which are too many to name.

Born in East Orange, NJ, Sandra lived in Belleville for 48 years before moving to Nutley in 2001. She had one son, Robert M. Molinaro.

Sandra worked for the Essex County Courts over a 25 year period. She held multiple positions in the probation department and later worked as a courtroom supervisor. Sandra was loved by her coworkers not just because she put her heart and soul into her work, but because she always offered an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. Sandra took great pride in acting as a mentor to her coworkers and was happy to let those around her benefit from her knowledge and experience.

Sandra was a devoted mother and loving grandmother of two grandchildren.

She spent as much time with her grandchildren as she could and loved nothing more than playing with them and teaching them about the world. Ava and Collin will treasure the memories of their beloved Nanny throughout their lives.

Sandra always brought a realistic optimism to every situation with which she was faced. Her sunny disposition and can-do attitude were contagious and instilled a sense of hope in those around her.

Sandra was the loving mother of Robert M. Molinaro, mother-in-law of Kristin A. Molinaro, and grandmother of Ava Molinaro and Collin Molinaro. She is survived by her mother, Joan Nyegaard, her father Ken Nyegaard, as well as her three brothers.

Joe was the general manager of Walbers Restaurant in Essington, PA, retiring in 1995.

Born in Newark, NJ, Sylvia resided in Belleville for most of her life.

She was a school bus attendant for the Belleville Board of Education, for 25 years, retiring in 2000.

A description of Sylvia's personality would characterize her as a humble and approachable person who was warm and caring with a welcoming smile. She favored order and neatness in her life and took pride in her appearance. She was a fashionable dresser who took delight in dancing and was happy to play bingo and lucky slots.

Sylvia was devoted to and unconditionally loved her family and possessed an unwavering dedication to the Lord.

Knowing Sylvia was to understand that she was more than these mere words can convey and the memory of her deeds are the precious gifts she leaves behind.

Sylvia was the wife of the late Ronald Brantley; the devoted mother of Cynthia A. Morales and Dawn M. Brantley; the precious grandmother of ten grandchildren; the treasured great-grandmother of twelve great-grandchildren; the loving sister of William, Selena, Marjorie, John, Kathleen, Maryann, Francine, Sharon, and the late Claire, Thomas, Russell, Barbara, Robert, Ronald, Clifford and Arthur. Sylvia is also survived by many adoring relatives and friends.

Born in Newark, NJ, Maude was a Belleville resident until 2000,

moving to Piscataway, NJ to present. Maude was a proud WWII Navy

Veteran. She was employed by Hahne and Company, Newark, for

20 years, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey,

Peace Chapter No. 98, Clifton, the past Worthy Matron of Areme

Chapter No. 73, Belleville, and an Elder of Watchung Presbyterian

Church, Bloomfield.

Maude will be remembered as a loving mother, who fostered strong family

values and encouraged positive thinking. Typically, her mind-set was to look

beyond the horizon, to set life goals. She had a good sense of humor, was

pleasant and outgoing. Christmas was a special time for baking, the delightful

aroma of holiday cookies would memorably waft through Maude's

kitchen and the Odle house.

Maude was the beloved wife of the late Donald E. Odle; the devoted

mother of Arthur and Anola Marie Odle; the cherished grandmother

of three, the great-grandmother of 10, and the loving sister of

Richard A. Christie.

 Born in Furth, Germany, Margaret immigrated to the United States in 1949,

settling in Newark, NJ, and resided in the city for 52 years, and

subsequently established a permanent residence in Belleville, NJ, where she

remained for the last 11 years.

Margaret, was an exceptionally kind hearted individual, who was

abundantly generous towards her family that she so magnificently adored.

An example of her favor, was the daily preparation of meals, for her family,

a fulfilling manifestation of her purpose and appreciation, the truth of her love.

 In the presence of her grandchildren, Margaret's eyes would sparkle with delight,

and her smile, so beautiful, did touch the hearts of her grandchildren in a

reassuring way. A place where unspoken words are forever understood and never forgotten.

 Recreational activities included: playing bingo, jaunts to Atlantic, NJ,

with a special destination, Trump Plaza or at home enjoying the

game of Pogo on her computer.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Nappi; the devoted

mother of Lena Nappi Cicchino, Richard Nappi, Catherine Nappi Greenemeier

and the late Anthony Nappi, Jr.; the cherished grandmother of (11)

grandchildren and the precious great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren,

and the loving sister of Gertrud Beck and the late Heinrich Schieder.

Born in Belleville, New Jersey, Jim remained a resident in the community, before

subsequently establishing his final residence of eight years in East Orange, New Jersey.

He was employed by the County of Essex as a shipping clerk for 19 years, retiring in

1989. He formerly was employed by ITT Labs, Nutley, as a buyer and later as a dental

technician for Dr. Frank Di Ruggiero, DDS, Belleville.

Jimmy was a standout basketball player for Belleville High School, graduating in 1946.

He went on to become a popular referee and umpire for local high school basketball

and baseball teams, the Belleville Little League and also for college basketball games.

He was a member of The New Jersey State Referee Association for many years. He was an

ardent sports fan and enthusiastically supported the Giants and New York Yankees.

Jimmy loved visiting the Jersey shore and walking along the boardwalk in Asbury Park.

He was the loving father of James Thomas Di Ruggiero; the cherished brother of

Mrs. Marie A. Slater and Mrs. Angela A. Csaszar; the cherished uncle of six nephews

and a niece, and the dear great-uncle of seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
