Dirkje Roos, a lifelong resident of Belleville, NJ, entered into eternal life on Wednesday November 16, 2022, at the age of 88.
He was born in Newark, NJ, on July 19, 1934, to the late Zwantje (nee Moller) and the late Herman Roos. He was also predeceased by his siblings Hanky Roos, Rikki Wunderly, Meintje Curnoles, Pete Roos, Gaston Roos, and Nancy Duetsch.
Surviving to cherish his memory is a brother John Roos, nephews Michael Roos and Dennis Roos, and 24 other nieces and nephews.
Dirkje proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a carpenter for many years. The Empire State Building was just one of the many projects he worked on. He was a member of the Northeast Carpenters Union of Edison, NJ.
He was an avid horse racing fan and Mets fan. Dirkje enjoyed spending time watching old western movies, especially John Wayne movies. He enjoyed smoking cigars and watching his two favorite comedian actors, Carol Burnett and Tim Conway.
The family will receive visitors on Monday morning November 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Avenue, Belleville, NJ. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment in Crest Haven Memorial Park, 750 Passaic Avenue, Clifton, NJ.
